Hi Fly, a leading global wet lease specialist and charter operator, completed an extensive flight testing of its latest addition, the Airbus A330-200, registered as 9H-MFS.
Before the aircraft can officially join Hi Fly’s fleet, it underwent rigorous functional flight testing, a procedure that the company is fully equipped and experienced to conduct in-house.
The Functional Check Flight took place at Beja Airport in southern Portugal, led by Commander Carlos Mirpuri, Vice Chairman of the Hi Fly Group. He was joined by Captains Peter Holemans and João Domingues, with Engineer Pedro Gomes serving as Flight Test Engineer. The team followed specific protocols and meticulously checked off each item on their comprehensive checklists.
The A330-200 Maintenance Check Flight lasted three hours, during which the expert crew executed a thorough evaluation. They pushed the wide-body Airbus to its certification limits, rigorously testing various systems, including pressurization—up to the altitude at which passenger masks deploy—as part of over 50 checkpoints.
Among the critical evaluations was the emergency hydraulic system, with the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) deployed to assess its efficiency.
Prior to this mission, a complete set of ground checks was conducted, ensuring the crew’s confidence in the aircraft’s readiness for the flight. “A meticulous flight preparation is essential for a successful test flight,” remarked Carlos Mirpuri.
After methodically completing all required checks, Commander Mirpuri expressed his satisfaction: “The aircraft is in top condition and ready to join our fleet. We gave 9H-MFS a clean bill of health.”
