Hi Fly management team includes senior airline executives with a strong and successful track record. Most of the senior members have over 25 years of experience in the air Transportation Industry and middle management over 10 years.


Paulo Mirpuri
President and Chief Executive Officer

Paulo Mirpuri was appointed President and CEO of Hi Fly in 2005, leading the airline thru its successful growth over the past 10 years. He accumulated over the last 28 years a wealth of expertise in the aviation industry, with top management positions in several other airlines, as well as in the support side of the industry, including aircraft trading, inflight catering units, aircraft handling, and maintenance organizations. Paulo Mirpuri currently holds also the chairman position at the Holding level, as well as President and CEO at Safeport, MESA and LSKY.

Carlos Mirpuri
Vice President

Carlos Mirpuri is Vice-President of Hi Fly since it was launched in 2005. A professional pilot since 1981, he has an extensive technical and managerial background. As an active airline pilot, he keeps all his ratings and credentials up to date, as Captain, instructor and examiner in most Airbus aircraft, including A320, A330-350 and A340. He closely supervises flight, ground and maintenance operations of the group. Having started his career as a flight instructor, he then flew commuters, before joining TAP Air Portugal in 1986, where he spent over 15 years. In 2001 he resigned from TAP to dedicate himself full time to his Aviation Group. He is also a consultant for Airbus Training UK since 2006.

Sérgio Bagorro
Chief Financial Officer

Sérgio Bagorro became Hi Fly’s Chief Financial Officer, as well as a member of the company’s Board of Directors, in 2006. He has also been the Group’s CFO since 2006, having also been appointed, in 2013, as Chief Executive Officer of the holding. He has more than 24 years’ experience with main focus in the financial area, having also relevant expertise on aviation, finance consultancy, and general management on several areas such as logistics, supply chain, industry, IT systems, communications, and tax & legal services. With an academic major in Economics and a Master’s Degree in International Economy, the main companies he worked for include Sabena - Swissair Group, PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) and Telecom Marconi Group.

Filomena Brioso

Filomena Brioso has been with Hi Fly as the Commercial Manager since 2005. With 23 years of experience in the aviation industry, she started her career in Johannesburg, South Africa, as a Travel Agent including Ticketing and Fares, Galileo and BSP. In 1997 joined Varig Brazilian Airlines where she worked as a Ticketing and Reservations Agent until 1999. In 2000 entered the Charter Department of a commercial airline becoming its Charter Manager from 2003 to 2005.

José Neto
Compliance Monitoring

José Neto was appointed as Hi Fly’s Compliance Monitoring Manager since its beginning in April 2006. A skilled pilot, with 35 years of experience, José Neto has a total flight time of 18 700 flight hours. Aircraft flown include Turbo Commander, King Air 300, Fokker 27, Fokker 100 and Boeing 737. He has been in the airline industry since 1971, working in companies as DETA/LAM, Air Algerie, and Sicotra Airways. In 1990 he joined Portugália Airlines (now part of TAP Portugal Group) as co-founder and commander, and continued as a Safety and Quality Manager.

Hugo Alves

Hugo Alves was appointed as Hi Fly’s Safety Manager in June 2016, becoming responsible for the company’s Safety Management System, Fatigue Management System and Flight Data Monitoring. Previously, Hugo Alves worked as an Air Safety Investigator in the Portuguese Aircraft Accident Investigation and Prevention Branch (GPIAA). Hugo had already worked with Hi Fly, between 2011 and 2015, as LOSA auditor as well as Flight Operations Quality Assurance auditor/specialist and Safety & Flight Data Monitoring Analyst. From 2002 to 2010, he was a Officer in the Portuguese Air Force, on board of aircraft such as CASA C212 Aviocar and LOCKHEED P-3P Orion. In addition to his Post-Graduation in Aeronautical Management and BA in Aeronautical Sciences – Airline Pilot branch, he also took an ATPL Pilot Course in 2007 and a A320 Type Rating course in 2014 and obtained a Type Rating for the Airbus A320. Hugo Alves has accumulated 14 years of experience in both military and civil aviation.

Susana Jardim

Susana Jardim became Head of Security & Regulatory Affairs in Hi Fly in 2011. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the airline’s security, both on the ground and in the air. She also oversees international affairs having periodical contacts with regulatory entities such as TSA, FAA, CASA and others. Susana Jardim brings over 25 years’ experience in several management positions in Customer Service, Flight Dispatch, Scheduling and Quality, and has worked for companies like Air Atlantis, Heliavia, INAER and NetJets, in this last one for over 13 years.

Luís Ferreira
Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization

Luís Ferreira became Airworthiness Manager of Hi Fly CAMO in 2006. Responsible for building up the entire EASA PART M Subpart G Organization, inside of the Hi Fly Group, currently certified for Airbus A310, A320, A330 and A340. With 16 years of experience in aviation, he was the head of Engineering Department of a commercial airline until April 2006, also working with Airbus fleet. He was appointed responsible for Engines, APU´s and Fuel Systems in February 2001, covering the entire company fleet (Cessna, Falcon, and Airbus) until 2004. Started in aviation business in 2000, working in in the development of the maintenance hangar for military helicopters within the Army Engineering department and other several areas (Maintenance Planning, Logistics, Maintenance Programs, AD/SB, ECTM) within the executive jets business, including a propeller engines aircraft (Short 360 freighter) and the NetJets Europe fleet (several Hawker´s, Falcon´s and Cessna´s).

Mário Decca
Crew Training

Mário Decca was appointed Crew Training Manager of Hi Fly in January 2013. He is the head of the Crew Training Department and is tasked with the preparation of training materials, the curriculum, and the supervision of training conduct, supervision and checking of training personnel. A qualified pilot, with 43 years of experience, Mário Decca has a total flight time of 16 000 flight hours. Aircraft flown include DH6 Twin Otter, HS-748, BA ATP, Dash-8 300, ATR-42 & 72, Airbus A300-B4, L-1011-500, A320, A330 and A340, and he worked for companies like SIAI MARCHETT, Zimex Aviation, LAR (part of TAP Portugal Group), Luzair and Schreiner Airways where he was TRI/TRE in all fleets he was assigned. He is a senior instructor and examiner for Airbus A330 and A340 fleet.

Peter Holemans
Flight Operations

Peter Holemans was appointed to Hi Fly Flight Operations Manager in April 2010. As Nominated Person, he is responsible for the operational management and the oversight of the flight operations. His previous post within the Airline was as the deputy of the Flight Operations Manager/Crew Training Manager. With 20 years of experience, Peter Holemans is an active line pilot with instructor and examiner qualification on A330/A340 aircraft. After completing his College Engineering Degree (MSC), he pursued an aviation career. He worked for Delta Air Transport (Sabena parent company) and operated Bae146-100/200 and Avro RJ 70/85/100 series (1860 flight hours) on the european network. In 1998, he served on the Sabena Longhaul network on A330-200/300 and A340-300 series. He joined a European airline in 2002 and later Hi Fly in 2007. He has accumulated up to 6 750 flight hours on A330-200/300 and A340-300/500/600. Furthermore, he is a qualified functional check flight pilot and also 3 engine ferry flight qualified on the A340.

Nuno Vasconcellos
Ground Operations

With an experience that began 30 years ago in commercial aviation, Nuno Vasconcellos joined the Hi Fly team in 2014 as Coordinator, becoming Ground Operation Manager in April 2015. He previously assumed the station manager for Alitalia in Lisbon, Sao Paulo, Malpensa and Kiev, taking responsibility for the whole operation, from passenger’s area, operations, catering and more. He entered in the aviation world in 1986, with LAM Mozambique Airlines, having also during his professional life worked for Israir airline.

José Alves
Planning and Operacional Control

José Alves became Hi Fly Director of Planning and Operational Control in July 2006. He is responsible for planning, developing and implementing strategy for operational management. With 12 years of experience in the airline industry, he worked before for Phillip Morris, Profabril, Unilever and Roche (Lisbon and Madrid). Since 2008 he has been teacher of Strategic and Marketing Management in ISG Business and Economic School.

Helena Sottomayor Cardia

Helena Sottomayor Cardia was appointed Marketing Manager of Hi Fly in 2006 with responsibilities that span from brand and sub-brands creation and management, corporate image, interior design, advertising, promotion, exhibitions and events. With a degree in Business Communication and an Executive Master in Cyber Communication she accumulated over the past 20 years a wealth of expertise in marketing and communication. Before joining the airline industry in 2003, as Marketing Manager at a commercial airline and tour operator, she worked at Institute of Corporate Communications (ISCEM) and at GCI public engagement consultancy. Helena Sottomayor Cardia also holds the Marketing Manager position at other Group Companies: Safeport, MESA and LSKY.
