Hi Fly sponsored Volvo Ocean Race Lisbon

Hi Fly sponsored the Mirpuri Foundation In-Port Race in Lisbon during the Volvo Ocean Race. The 13th edition of the event started in October in Alicante, Spain and will be on until June 2018. Lisbon was one of the chosen hosting cities for a third consecutive year and the first In-Port Race stopover.
The podium was set at the Lisbon dock, waiting for the boats to arrive after a challenging and tight close race. Paulo Mirpuri, the President of Hi Fly and Mirpuri Foundation, was one of the three dignitaries chosen by the Volvo Ocean Race to be part of the Prize Giving ceremony. Paulo Mirpuri delivered the second prize to the team MAPFRE alongside with Luíza Mirpuri, his wife and Medical Advisor for the Foundation.
The other two prizes were delivered by Edson Ishikawa, Managing Director of Volvo Car Portugal who gave the first award to Team Brunel and by Fernando Medina, Mayor of Lisbon who delivered the third prize to Dongfeng Race Team.
Besides sponsoring this race, Hi Fly is also supporting the team Turn the Tide on Plastic competing in the race. In order to reinforce the sustainability message carried by the boat, the airline recently painted on of its aircrafts under the same livery amplifying the reach of this message also across the skies.
The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the world’s toughest professional sporting events, challenging the best ocean racers to compete against the clock through the world’s most daring waters. The 2017-18 edition started in October in Alicante, Spain and will end in June 2018 in the city of Haia in the Netherlands. It will take the teams 45,000 nautical miles around the world, across four oceans, touching six continents and 12 landmark Host Cities.
